Mustache Transplantation

In the case of non-growing hair or hair loss on the upper lip of men, the definitive treatment is mustache transplantation. Mustache transplantation is a procedure of transplanting hair follicles in the skin areas on the upper lip where mustache hair does not grow. Hair follicles to be transplanted in the mustache area are harvested from the nape region, as with the treatment of baldness. To perform that, hair follicles are harvested with 0.6 mm punches one by one from the upper area of the nape, using the FUE technique. Afterwards, the hair follicles are transplanted in the mustache areas with hair loss.

Beard Transplantation

The hair follicles in the unnecessary part of the beard can be harvested and transplanted to make thinner areas thicker. In this case, the unnecessary hair follicles on the cheek bone were harvested and transplanted in the thin beard area right below. No scar is left behind when the harvest is carefully performed using 0.6-0.7 mm tips and hand. Thanks to the perfect harvest in this way, the hair follicles on the lower parts of the beard, chest, lower parts of the nape and even the follicles on the cheek bone can be harvested and transplanted in another area. The procedure provides a distinct advantage since it provides permanent epilation in the donor areas for hair follicle which do not look good due to dense beard.
The beard is not like the hair, and can be very different in density from person to person. Someone with a significant thin beard may not feel uncomfortable with it. Therefore, a thick beard is usually not required in the transplantation.
If there is a regional loss of beard, transplantation is planned to be in a density of the surrounding beard and harmony is achieved in such a case. If the entire beard is not present, transplantation with a hair follicle number of 1000-3000 can be performed depending on the thickness and line desired by the individual. A total of 1000 hair follicles (400 hair follicles separately in mustache and jaw areas, 100 hair follicles in each sideburn areas) provide a prominent change in the appearance despite being significantly thin.
Usually, beard transplantation with around 3000 hair follicles produces satisfactory results. 400-800 hair follicles are sufficient in the case of transplantation only in the mustache area. No significant problem arises when donor area for beard transplantation is washed on the next day, but a pinky appearance occurs for 1-2 weeks. There will be no scar in the donor area on the body or nape. No problem arises if hair follicles are harvested from the body since they are featureless hair. If they are harvested from the nape region, thinning occurs as much as the number of hair follicles harvested. No noticeable difference occurs even if 10,000 hair follicles are harvested from the nape during our operations.
A dark red appearance occurs in the beard or mustache transplantation area immediately after the transplantation due to the blood clots caused by the needles that are used during the transplantation, and this appearance disappears after the first bath. The beard or mustache transplantation area can be washed 24-48 hours after the operation. As the blood clots are cleaned by washing, the transplanted beard becomes visible and a 2-3 day stubble look arises. An increase in the blood supply of the transplantation area occurs for better feeding of the transplanted beard by the body, so acne look-alike tiny redness arises in the hair roots within 2-3 days due to that, this red appearance disappears within 1-2 weeks and the area gains a normal appearance.
The beard and mustache that continue to grow after the transplantation can be shortened by scissors after the 15th day or can be grown. The first shaving should be preferably done a month later for hair follicles to take root adequately.
After the 2nd week, a portion of the transplanted beard and mustache undergoes a temporary fall-out, called shock fall-out or shock loss. 4-8 months after the temporary fall-out, the entire hair that has fallen out grows again. The increase in hair follicle quality continues up to 2 years.
